Who We Are

Serenity First Counseling 501 (c)(3)

Serenity First Counseling is a non-profit corporation providing education, prevention, outreach, treatment, and recovery support services for behavioral health issues.  We work in collaboration with other community resources and groups.  We are part of the Sustainable Families Coalition that has formed task force groups to deal with the Behavioral Health and Substance Abuse Issues in the communities of Sahuarita, Green Valley and surrounding areas.

Our diversified experience and team approach enables us to offer a full spectrum of personalized treatment plans for children, adolescents, individuals, couples,  and families.

Joan Silver, LMFT

Joan has been a licensed Marriage Family Therapist with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners since 2005 and recently moved to Southern Arizona from California. She provides counseling to individuals (14+), couples, and families who want to improve their daily life.  Many times our "personal" experiences (the stories/beliefs) have resulted in behaviors that may not be working in our favor today. We get triggered by the words and actions of others and often react in ways that are not healthy for either us or others. It is imperative that we heal those hurts that are holding us back from living the life we want. Her treatment focus is to help her clients learn to tap into their own assets and make choices that will assist them in communicating their truths in an open and non-judgmental manner.

How We Work

What We Want Is Connection

Isn't it interesting that so many of us feel dis-connected and lonely when social media and technology has made it so much easier to connect with each other?  However, do those connections give us the feelings of closeness that we really want and need?   First we need to learn how to connect to ourselves and learn our own truths.  We will help you discover those truths and teach you tools to connect better with others.

Our Patient Promise

We  commit to be there for you every step of your discovery journey. Our goal is to help you move through your struggles and heal from your pain.  We will introduce you to tools to help you continue on this life journey with confidence and serenity.
